Home City / State:

Date of Birth:
February 19, 1936

After the Army:
I returned to Cleveland, worked hard and played organized softball for 5 years, umpired softball for the Cleveland Umpires Assn for 9 years and coached softball and basketball teams for several years. I'm presently a deacon, youth counselor and soloist at my church.

In recent years, I have spoken to a number of groups on the history of the Tomb, including the middle school class of Jim Cardamon's son in Farrell, PA.

I was a featured answer/question on the game show "Jeopardy," which aired September 24th, 2003 (First African-American Sentinel at the Tomb). Also, Ebony Magazine published an article on my accomplishment in the September, 1961 issue.

Current Occupation:
Retired from the County Auditor's Office

Family:
I have been married to Joyce since December of 1960. We have two children, Robert and Karen along with four wonderful grandchildren: Taylor, Asia, Robert and Sydney.

Most Memorable Moment at Tomb:
My most memorable moment at the Tomb was when I walked the mat for the first time and saw the large crowd gathered there.
