Most Memorable Moment at Tomb:
While time has a tendency to fade memories, I do remember working to improve the guard quarters which included adding a shower and mini-kitchen. This area was across the walkway from the present entrance to the Guard room. We also worked on developing a relief change ceremony for the complete off-going guard shift and the on-coming shift. I believe this was short lived.
Another project we tried, without success, was to get the KIWI shoe polish company to provide us with free polish if we would name them as the official supplier of shoe polish for the Tomb Guard. Another very short lived procedure was the formal shift change where all sentries from the off going and the oncoming shift had a change formation at the Tomb. I believe SGT McLain was the leader at that time. We also worked to start designing a medallion for Guards and had contacted several State Senators and Representatives to bless the idea.
